Talking2Minds, which treats people with PTSD, achieved its official charity status on Friday 14th of August and that was a cause for celebration at The Bailey Inn. The Charity’s founder, Rob Paxman (some of you may have seen him on the news lately) cracked open a bottle of champagne and we all joined him in celebration of all the hard work he has put in over the course of the last year or so. Watch out for the features in the tabloids, news and television documentaries over the course of the coming months and remember that your donations (around £1000 to date) have helped to support this worthy cause. A few people braved what was possibly the wettest day of the year, on Wednesday July 29th, for the charity art auction (thank you – you know who you are) and donated paintings are still on display (and for sale) in the pub with all proceeds going to the Talking2Minds charity. | ![]() |
In our foyer we are mounting a community notice board. If you would like to advertise anything that you want to get rid of or sell then please feel free to do so. Also if you have a service to provide or business to advertise you can also do this on our notice board. Pop in and speak to us behind the bar for more details. Or email or thebaileyinn@hotmail.com
I feel compelled to say a fond farewell to ‘H’, Harold James, who passed away on Sunday 29th August 2009 at the age of 69. Your jolly smile, hearty laugh and dancing moves will be sorely missed at the Bailey Harold. We will all remember you with happy thoughts of the times we shared.
In August, our DVD Swapshop was launched.
You know what it’s like, there is a rack or book shelf full of films you have bought or acquired over the last few years, gathering dust in some corner of the house and half of the films, you will never watch again. Gary and I had such a shelf at The Bailey and so we thought it would be a good idea to have a DVD Swapshop. Just bring along a DVD you no longer want, (no copies please) and swap it for one on the shelf - it is as simple as that. After you have watched it, you can bring it back and swap it again. The Swap shop is open in the bar, on Saturdays and Sundays from 12noon until 6pm…… If you have a surplus of DVDs you would like to donate to the Swap shop, we would be happy to have them….
What a great turn out for the darts league with 16 people signing up. With everyone in control of their matchs it looks like it will be a roaring success, as long as manage to keep tabs on it all! Watch out for our bar skittles league coming soon!
